Here’s how each therapeutic approach is integrated into the service:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a structured, goal-oriented therapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviours that contribute to emotional distress.
This therapy helps clients identify and challenge distorted thinking, encourages engagement in activities that improve mood and gradual exposure to feared situations to reduce anxiety.
This therapy is effective for treating anxiety, depression, stress, and other mood disorders. Sessions often involve homework assignments to practice new skills and strategies.
Person-Centred Therapy
Developed by Carl Rogers, this approach emphasises the importance of creating a supportive, non-judgmental therapeutic relationship where clients feel valued and understood.
Providing unconditional positive regard, consistent acceptance, and support regardless of the client’s behaviour or feelings. A deep understanding and reflection of the client’s feelings and experiences. Our therapists are authentic and genuine in the therapeutic relationship, promoting self-exploration and personal growth. This therapy is effective for a wide range of issues, including self-esteem and personal development.
Trauma-Informed Practice
This approach recognises the widespread impact of trauma and aims to create a safe and supportive environment that avoids re-traumatisation. This is achieved through creating repour quickly and creating an environment of trust and safety through:
Safety: Ensuring a safe physical and emotional space for clients.
Trustworthiness: Building trust through transparency and consistency.
Empowerment: Fostering clients’ sense of control and self-efficacy.
Collaboration: Working together with clients in a respectful and non-hierarchical manner.
Trauma-Informed Practice is useful for individuals with a history of trauma or adverse experiences, including abuse, neglect, or significant loss. Focuses on understanding trauma’s impact and integrating trauma-sensitive practices into therapy.
Somatic Therapy
Somatic Therapy integrates the mind-body connection by addressing how physical sensations and bodily experiences influence emotional well-being. Helping clients become aware of physical sensations and their emotional connections by using techniques such as guided movement, breathwork, and relaxation exercises to release tension and process emotions. By focusing on the body's response to trauma and using techniques to help process and integrate traumatic experiences, Somatic Therapy is effective for addressing stress, trauma, anxiety, and bodily symptoms related to emotional issues. It encourages clients to reconnect with their bodies and process emotions stored physically.
Art Therapy
Uses creative processes to help individuals express themselves, explore emotions, and address psychological issues. Using spontaneous artmaking to express thoughts and feelings, structured activities to explore specific themes and collage and mask making to creating visual representations of emotions and identity.
Art Therapy supports emotional expression, trauma processing, and personal insight through creative means.
Assessment and Individualisation
We conduct thorough assessments to understand clients' needs, preferences, and therapeutic goals then develop individualised treatment plans that integrate one or more of the therapeutic approaches based on client needs. We also regularly evaluate progress and adjust treatment plans as needed, providing ongoing support and feedback to ensure that the therapeutic process is effective and responsive to clients’ evolving needs.
